Summer 2009 Interns
 | Kim Thai Stanford University Class of 2011, is a student at Stanford University pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Earth Systems, concentrating in Biosphere. As an intern at the MonAme Scientific Research Center, Kim studied the issues of Mongolia’s water resources, specifically the impact of the current water resources on human health. Kim’s academic and career interests include environmental issues and human health. Research paper |  | Ram Sachs Stanford University Class of 2012, is a student at Stanford University pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Earth Systems, concentrating in Anthrosphere. As an intern at the MonAme Scientific Research Center, Ram researched the economic development of Mongolia’s mining sector and Mongolia’s developing relationships with India and China in the nuclear sector. Ram’s academic interests include international security, energy and environmental policy, and foreign languages. Research Paper | | In my mind, my adventure to Mongolia was the most engaging experience of my life. Over the course of a summer, I learned how to live in an entirely different culture, learning about the challenges of a developing country and the unique perspectives of nomads on the steppes. My research internship at the Mongolian American Scientific Research Center allowed me to delve into natural resource and economic development policy in a meaningful way. With the help of my host family, I began to understand the Mongolian world view. My time in Mongolia has been one of the defining experiences of my youth. | |  | Jacob Stern Stanford University Class of 2012, is a student at Stanford University pursuing a Bachelors of Arts in History. As an intern at MonAme Scientific Research Center, Jacob assessed the domestic policy of Mongolia’s mining sector and the geopolitical consideration of Mongolia. Burtejin Galtbaatar Communication University of China 2010 Burtejin Galtbaatar, class of 2010, is a student at the Communication University of China pursuing a Bachelors degree in Public Relations. As an inern at MonAme Scientific Research Center, she concentrates on helping the organization to function and on design issues. Burtejin's academic interests include crisis management, image design, communication and advertising.
