The MonAme Summer Institute is a 4 week Standardized Academic Testing (SAT) preparation course, taught at the Sant School, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. This course seeks young students from Mongolia who intend to apply to colleges and universities in the United States. Students from prestigious American universities help the students prepare for the SAT by teaching writing, critical reading, mathematics, and essential study skills. At the end of the course, each student attends a 30 minute private session with one of the instructors to discuss the college application process. Using their own experience from applying to top ranked U.S. schools, experiences the instructors guide the students through the college application, focused on highlighting students’ unique characteristics and backgrounds.  Upon completion of the course, each student receives a certificate acknowledging their successful completion of the MonAme Summer Institute. Launch Year - 2009 In the summer of 2009, three students from Stanford University participated in the program as teachers to 14 Mongolian students. The class was held 4 days a week, for 3 hours each day. Each instructors specialized in one of the subject areas of the SAT to ensure a positive learning experience for the students. At the end of the course, the entire class went on a day trip to the Chinggis Khaan Monument and a Tuul River resort to celebrate the completion of the course. |
